HARRY STYLES OPENS UP ABOUT HIS MIDNIGHT MEMORIES SONGWRITING INSPIRATION

The five boys of One Direction are credited with writing the music and lyrics to many songs off Midnight Memories. They all co-wrote a few off Take Me Home, but they had a much larger part in the making of their new album.

In a recent interview with E! Magazine, Harry Styles opened up about his songwriting inspiration.
“When you’re writing songs, it’s impossible to not draw on personal experiences, whether it be, you know, traveling or girls or anything.”
Traveling? That sure sounds like it was the inspiration behind “Don’t Forget Where You Belong,” the catchy song about always remembering your roots. On the other hand, the clue about girls is a little more cryptic.
Harry continued, “You’re always gonna draw inspiration for things that you’re feeling, things that you’ve felt. It’s kind of impossible not to unless there’s an exact scenario that you’re trying to write a song for.”

He went on to say that his family has kept him grounded throughout his speedy rise to fame and his small hometown of Holmes Chapel has reminded him that his time in the spotlight could end at any moment.
Regarding his crazy lifestyle, he said, “You just have to enjoy it because eventually there’s going to be a day when, you know, nobody wants to speak to you and then you go ‘Hey, I’m here!’”
Oh Harry, we’re sure there will always be directioners who will want to speak to you!
